PURPOSE:To make the measuring counter small in capacity and to extend the measuring range to the limit of counter capacity, by determining the measuring range through presetting the data based on the discrimination of mode such as lead or lag of pace at a preparatory measurement. CONSTITUTION:An initial value corresponding to a set value of a count gate time of a counter 4 to obtain a median for the count value of the measuring counter 4 counting a reference frequency without lead and lag is preset to the counter 4 from an ROM 11. Based on the count value at preparatory measurement with the counter 4 for a measured signal (a) during the gate time, a CPU 1 discriminates the mode of lead or lag of the pace through the comparison with the median of the ROM 11. Further, the preset value based on the discriminating mode is read out from the ROM 11 and preset to the counter 4. Thus, the measuring range can be extended to the full limit of the counter through the use of small capacity of counter. |
