PURPOSE:To predict the occurrent of an insulation breakdown and prevent troubles in a signal device, etc. by providing a simple device on a vehicle and detecting the insulation breakdown in the insulated rail joint that occurs only when vehicle passes. CONSTITUTION:It is assumed that rail current from a rail current source E is sent toward the curent receiving end of a section T on the left side of the figure starting from the end P of an electricity transmission that is near a joint S in the boundary of the secon T on a rail RL. A vehicle L which has wheel shafts W1 and W2 is also assumed to run in the direction arrow (a) shown in the figure. A current receiver R detects rail current in the section T. A receiver RV detects the level of the rail current from the information on the rail current that is detected by the current receiver R and outputs to a recorder LR. Whether or not insulation breakdown occured only during the vehicle passed can be easily detected by different level change as shown in the figure. Occurrence of entire insulation breakdown at a joint can be thereby predicted. |
