Strip for sealing a gap, e.g. between adjoining wall panels is formed as a T-section whose flange covers the gap whilst the web is inserted in the gap and has lateral barb projections to hold it in position. The web contains a material which acquires fire-resistant characteristics by exposure to heat. The web may be provided with a cavity containing a material which strongly expands when exposed to heat and is fire-resistant. The strip may be in soft PVC with the cavity containing a sodium-silicate based material. The web may have a region of reduced thickness adjacent the cavity.
