The float is fixed to the deck and reduces list if a leg falls off. They comprise a rigid shell with a cellular plastic core. The float is shaped to suit the deck to which it is fixed. The float has fixing devices. Its shell can be made of a flame retardant material such as glass reinforced plastic. It is filled with, e.g. PVC foam. There are two foams, an outer layer of higher density, stronger foam with a lower density, softer core. (Provisional Basic previously advised in week 8438) |
