PURPOSE:To discharge moisture surely by application of shearing stresses upon sludge in a sludge dehydrator by staggering plural rollers in such a way that belts extend zigzag between the rollers. CONSTITUTION:The zigzag zone 15 of a sludge dehydrator consisting of plural rollers 78, which are staggered mutually in a longitudinal direction and are so mounted that screen belts 18, 82 which are horizontal in the conveying direction and are guided between the rollers travel zigzag during the operation. Sludge lumps pass through a pressing zone 14 and fall onto the belt 82; thereafter, the gludge lumps are sandwiched and conveyed between the two belts 18 and 82, and in succession, the lumps are carried between the guide rollers 78 by wave-like motion. The sludge is thoroughly compressed and shorn by compressive stresses and shearing stresses in this time, and substantial water is discharged further from the sludge lumps. |
