PURPOSE:To cut the steel ingots of plural strands from multiple strand type continuous casting installations accurately by providing a position detecting means, a length measuring means for ingots and plural fixed shearing blades to the truck of a cutter, and running the truck in accordance with the drawing speed. CONSTITUTION:The traveling truck 5 of a cutter 1 is run in accordance with the drawing speeds of respective steel ingots 2, 3. Plural fixed cutting blades 7, 8 are provided to the frame supported to the truck 5 and a fixed cutting blade 11 is provided to an upper blade holder. A position detecting means 15 mounted to a base plate has a pulley 50 connected to the truck 5, a pulse generating means 53, and an integrating means 54, and integrates the position of the truck 5. When the truck 5 abuts on the stopper 55 on the upper part, the position thereof is set as a specified position. A measuring means 16 integrates the drawing lengths of the ingots 2, 3 with a means 58 of generating pulses according to the revolutions of a pinch roller 57. According to the drawing lengths, a cutting cylinder 12 and a blade holder 10 are rocked to cut the ingots 2, 3 to required lengths. |
