A comminution machine of this kind contains an upper cutting disc (2) in whose centre part there is a filling opening (7) and at whose lower end side there are cutting ribs (5). A lower cutting disc (3) is arranged coaxially with respect to the upper cutting disc (2). At the lower end side of the upper cutting disc (2), projections are made, each of which runs from the peripheral end of a cutting rib (5) to the opposite end of the next cutting rib in such a way that the projections form, together with the cutting ribs (5), an enclosed zig-zag contour. Such a constructional solution permits the quality of the comminuted product and the homogeneity of its grain structure to be increased. <IMAGE>
