The infrared energy emitted from a black-body radiation light source is changed to intermittent light by the light intermittent device (2). The infrared energy to be measured reaches the detector(4) through the + filter (3). At this noment gas is supplied by way of the capillary tube (7) intermittently or successively. The gas circulates in the detector. The absorption of energy is in proportion to concentration of the gas in the detector. Therefore, unknown gas concentration is measured.
