PURPOSE:To prevent a releasing coating from deteriorating owing to repetitive fixing operation, and to reduce the amount of a releasing agent to be used, by providing a means of raising the surface temperature of a body of revolution gradually to a position where the revolving body comes into contact with a recording material in the rotation direction of the body of revolution. CONSTITUTION:A press-contacting roller 10 has a thin releasing coating 10 and low thermal conductivity, and rises in surface temperature by an internal heat source 17. A fixing roller 11 is an elastic roller with a releasing coating 111 made of RTV silicone rubber, and has low thermal conductivity. The surface of the roller 11 is heated through a thin endless belt 13 which conducts heat from a heat source 12 provided in the belt. The surface of the roller 11 is lower a little than prescribed temperature near a point (a) where the belt 13 comes into contact with the fixing roller 11, and gradual heating is carried out to obtain the prescribed temperature at an intermediate position between points (a) and (b). Since abrupt heating is not performed, the durability of the releasing coating 111 is improved to reduce the amount of a releasing agent to be used. |
