PURPOSE:The titled rectal administering composition for treating diabetes, containing insulin and an aqueous extract from an aconite root or a dried material thereof as active constituents, and useful for home treatment without giving mental and physical pains to patients. CONSTITUTION:A rectal administering composition containing insulin and an aqueous extract from an aconite root or dried material thereof as active constituents. The insulin is an important drug for treating diabetes due to the hypoglycemic action but cannot be easily administered orally because of the decomposition by the proteolytic enzymes in the digestive tracts, and the insulin itself easily absorbed from the intestinal tracts. The use of the aqueous extract from the aconite root or the dried material thereof remarkably improves the absorbability of the insulin and produces the remedial effect thereof by the intrarectal administration in a small amount. The amount of the aconite root to be used is 0.5-50wt% based on the total weight of the additives, and that of the insulin is about 2-200 units based on the unit weight of the pharmaceutical.
