<p>PURPOSE:To detect a local jam of paper securely in its early stage, by providing plural paper detecting means at prescribed intervals in the width direction of paper fed to a position close to a rotating body on its down stream side toward the moving directin of the paper. CONSTITUTION:Separating pawls 13 are provided along the roller 12 of a copying machine, and each separating pawl 13 is provided with one detection switch 14. Consequently, even if part of paper is caught by some separating pawl 13, the paper does not reach at least the detection switch 14 which corresponds to the catching pawl, so the detection switch 14 is not operated. For this purpose, when another detection switch 14 is operated and at least one detection switch 14 is not operated within a certain time, a jam signal is sent out, thus detecting a local jam of the paper is detected securely in its early stage.</p> |
