<p>The aeroplane propeller comprises a hub (1) made up of two metallic halves containing cavities (4a) which receive the ends of wooden blades (6). The ends of the blades are impregnated with a material which suppresses the variation in vol. of the wood due to variations in humidity. The ends of the blades pref. contain annular grooves (7,8,9) into which correspondingly shaped ribs (11,12,13) on the internal surfaces of the cavities locate when the two metallic halves are secured together.</p> |
