The connection path hunting system is for a telephone exchange and makes provision for the connection of an additional resistors into the system and for busying in the quiescent state. For cooperation with a control common to a number of switching devices, switching signals are generated for connecting the additional resistor into the system loop and for busying the resitor in the quiescent state, that is with no busy line. A common circuit is switched through to the appropriate switching device by a central control, and carries both types of code signal for the presence or absence of a busy state.
