<p>Electrolyte contains at least one electrode consisting of a Ti substrate or carrier, which is coated with an intermediate layer (I) contg. tetravalent Ti ions, and then a top coating (II) of PbO2 obtd. anodically. The electrolyte is pref. an aq. soln. contg. salts and/or dil. acids with anions not adsorbed PbO2, e.g. the divalent HPO4 ion and the monovalent perchlorate ion. The electrolyte pref. also contains a fluoride and is at pH 2-8; it is pref. used at max. 60 deg.C and with current densities up to 400 mA. The Ti electrode substrate is pref. boiled in an oxalic acid soln. contg. a Ti-oxalate complex to form layer (I) before layer (II) is applied. High yields of ozone are obtd. without decay of the electrode.</p> |
