The invention relates to a carburettor for internal combustion engines with a continuous intake pipe (2) arranged in the housing (1) for the air feed and an outlet port (16) opening in the intake pipe for the fuel feed in the idling position. The passage cross-section of the admission orifice (30) to the outlet port (16) can be varied by means of a setting needle (32) adjustably held in the housing (1). For the same idling speed, the adjustment of the idling setting needle (32) when the engine is in the warmed-up state must be different from that when the engine is in the cold state so that during operation manual setting adjustments have to be made in order to keep the idling speed largely constant. According to the invention it is proposed to manufacture the setting needle (32) from a material, the temperature coefficient of which is greater than that of the material of the carburettor housing (1, Fig. 1). As the operating temperature varies the passage cross-section of the inlet orifice (30) is adjusted accordingly owing to the changes in length of the setting needle (32) so that the idling speed is largely constant irrespective of the operating temperature and manual setting adjustments are avoided. <IMAGE>
