An armoured plate for strongboxes, safes or the like consists of a chill-cast plate which is reinforced by means of steel or iron wires (16, 17, 19, 20) and which has a layer of ceramic particles embedded in the chill-casting. The armoured plate is to be improved to the effect that it can withstand an attack by cutting wheels or crown drills. For this purpose, provision is made, according to the invention, for using as ceramic particles pieces of boron carbide (4) which are preferably trapped between two reinforcements (18, 21). <IMAGE>
