The invention relates to electronic sound and music generators as vehicle-mounted hazard-warning and monitoring systems in vehicles, in particular in the cockpit of a motor vehicle, in conjunction with display instruments which operate on an analog basis and in conjunction with digital information and display systems. In this arrangement, the optical reading of the instruments which serve for traffic safety is to be promoted and facilitated by means of audible signals on the basis of simple electronic sound and music generators or also on the basis of magnetic tape playback devices for complete sequences of tunes. Furthermore, melodies can be preselected by changing ROMs in order to conform to general tastes. In contrast with the arrangement of instruments in the cockpit of an aeroplane, the arrangement of groups of instruments in the cockpit of a motor vehicle by means of additional audible signals in the form of sequences of sounds and tunes has a large influence on the driver of the vehicle since he determines the road holding and maintains the direction of the motor vehicle steered by him on a two-dimensional surface.
