PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in the transmission loss characteristics at low temp. and under low temp. flexing by filling a waterproof filler consisting of oil, rubber, PE, and a small amt. of additives in an optical cable. CONSTITUTION:A waterproof filler prepd. by mixing 90-99wt% oil component of the types 104A, 104B classified by ASTM D-2226, 4-12wt% rubber component (e.g.; styrene-butadiene copolymer), 3-10wt% PE and a small amt. of additives is filled in an optical cable contg. optical fibers. Said filler is physically and chemically stable in a -60 deg.C-+80 deg.C temp. region, and does not cause solidification at low temp. and flow at high temp. |
