PURPOSE:To obtain an image data of high quality is obtained for the region corresponding to the peripheral area of an original, by using a means to replace a prescribed video signal corresponding to the peripheral area of the original with a picture data corresponding to the background part of the original. CONSTITUTION:A photocoupler 8 works for a short time with a prescribed timing and prior to the reading of an image, and an original size signal 9 showing the presence or absence of the light detection is fed to a clock generator 11 to discriminate the size of the original. Then a clock signal 12 of frequency f1 and a clock signal 13 of frequency f2 are delivered when the originals X1 of a large size and X2 of a small size are discriminated respectively. Under such conditions, the reading is started 14, and an electric signal 19 given from an image pickup element 17 is supplied to a video control circuit 22. The circuit 22 receives a clock signal 23 of frequency f1 which starts an output synchronously with a start signal 14 and then delivers successively the video signals 24 equivalent to a line. |
