The invention relates to an apparatus for the filling of valve bags (7) above a conveying means for the filled bags, said device comprising a filling pipe and, arranged underneath this, a swing-out bottom support. Apart from a low space requirement, the invention is based on the object of making it possible to fill bags of different sizes, of bringing these bags into a palletisable or stackable form and of positioning them in a highly accurate manner on the discharge belt irrespective of their centre of gravity. For this purpose, the invention provides that the bottom support comprises two rotatable plates (8, 9) which are arranged in mirror-image fashion with respect to the vertical longitudinal centre-plane through the filling pipe and which can be pivoted on two pins (10, 11), which are parallel to the filling pipe, from a vertical position to a horizontal, or approximately horizontal, position, and vice versa, and the pivot pins (10, 11) are arranged at a distance from the one longitudinal edges of the plates (8, 9) and from one another in such a way that these longitudinal edges are closer together when the plates (8, 9) are in the horizontal position. <IMAGE>
