A motor vehicle steering-column switch having a switch slide which can be operated by a switch lever and having a detent for a plurality of switch positions, which detent comprises a latching profiled cam and a spring-loaded latching element which engages in the latching profiled cam. The technical problem is to reduce the number of parts which are subject to wear and to increase the contact reliability. The latching profiled cam (10), together with the latching element (latching limb 16 and latching lever 20), is provided with various electrical components (11, 12, 21, 22, 23) which produce signal outputs depending on the switch positions. <IMAGE>
