PURPOSE:To perform accurate head positioning control, by forming an accurate synthesized position singnal from a servo position signal and a sample servo position signal and detecting the signal as a position signal at track tracking mode. CONSTITUTION:A sample holding circuit 13 inputs a servo position signal x(t) and outputs a stepwise servo position signal X(t) based on a sample timing pulse. A subtractor 14 subtracts the X(t) from the signal x(t) to obtain a signal a(t). In an adder 15, the signal a(t) representing the continuous increment/decrement is added to a sample servo signal s(t) from a data plane to obtain a continuous synthesized position signal y(t) accurately representing the head position on a data plane. Since no filter circuit is used, a synthesis signal without phase delay can be obtained and an accurate position signal can be obtained over a broad band. |
