The invention relates to a process for the biological purification of waste water, in which discharges having a relatively low content of suspended matter are taken off from a low-loaded biological purification stage and fed to a secondary clarification. The suspended matter portions are present partly as very fine particles having a low tendency to flocculation. To improve the flocculation therefore, flocculation seeds are added to the low-loaded discharges before introduction into the secondary clarification.
