In the case of a process for dressing the honing stones of honing tools, in particular of ceramically bonded honing stones, the honing tools are introduced into a dressing tool, having an interior contour which corresponds to the desired dimension of the honing tool and is formed by grinding stones, and the honing stones are dressed by relative movement between the honing tool and the dressing tool. The dressing tool may be designed as a constituent part of the machine tool or honing machine, with the result that the honing tool can be dressed without removal from the machine tool. The dressing tool comprises an exterior guide part in which a tubular cage is guided such that it can be axially displaced. Grinding stones are introduced in a radially adjustable manner into cutouts of the cage.
