In a process for the preparation of thymus extract from fresh thymus glands, in which the thymus glands are cleaned and ground and, after making up with distilled water, are packaged as agent for injection, to achieve a stable and storable thymus extract it is proposed that the cell walls of the ground thymus glands be destroyed, that high molecular weight constituents be removed, that preservatives be added and that the liquid be freeze-dried. The stable and storable thymus extract is characterised in that it is in a non-cellular form which is freeze-dried after adding preservatives.
