The invention relates to a sealing arrangement for sealing off liquids under high pressure on rotating shafts. The PTFE sealing ring (1), which is subject to pressure on all sides except for the narrow contact faces (7 and 8) is pressed in sealing fashion against an end surface and circumferential surface by the elastic clamping ring (3). According to the invention a PTFE intermediate ring (2) is installed between the sealing ring and the clamping ring. The sealing ring can rotate in a low-friction manner relative to the circumferential surface and/or the end surface and, at the same time, slide on the intermediate ring. The frictional heat is dissipated from all the sliding surfaces by the drag flow of the liquid to be sealed off brought about by means of oblique grooves (13 and 21). <IMAGE>
