The invention relates to a finite or continuous zipper chain with two support bands and rows of fastener members connected thereto. Finite zipper chain also means finished zippers. At least one of the support bands is provided with information elements for the control of machines for technical and/or organisational working processes which are to be carried out on the zipper chain or using the zipper chain. The information elements are combined to form information items and can be read mechanically and/or electromagnetically by auxiliary devices of the machines. As a result, a zipper chain is produced which is capable of controlling the said machines autogenously. <IMAGE>
