In a catamaran-like water-going vessel which has floats which are immersed in the water which are connected to a bridge situated above the designed draft, the drag is simultaneously reduced and manoeuvrability is increased in addition during propulsion. To achieve this, the water-going vessel (1) is provided with floats (2, 3), each of which contains a channel (14, 15) which extends from the bow to the stern and creates a propulsive impulse by sucking in water in the region of the point at which the floats (2, 3) cause the water level to be raised and ejecting it after an increase in pressure via an outlet nozzle situated at the end of each channel (14, 15) or via the bow aperture of each channel (14, 15) for the purpose of generating a braking impulse. <IMAGE>
