The invention relates to the field of electronics and radio technology, more precisely to heads of the wire layer of the automatic wiring machine. The head of the wire layer of the automatic wiring machine contains a housing (1) having wire guides (2), a gripping unit, a feed device and a wire fracture sensor (wire breakage sensor). The device for wire guidance is designed in the form of two electromagnetic drives (13, 14) which are connected to a source of the controllable voltage. The electromagnetic drive (13) is mechanically connected to the unit for gripping the wire, which unit represents two jaws (24, 25) which are sprung relative to one another and are fitted with a gap (22), the jaw (24) being rigidly fitted to a pivoting lever (16) on the housing (1), while the jaw (25) is connected to an armature (26) of the electromagnetic drive (13). The wire fracture sensor represents a contact group which can interact with the stop (17) on the pivoting lever (16). The invention can be used in wiring installations, especially in automatic machines, which are intended for carrying out wiring operations on a board. <IMAGE>
