PURPOSE:To reduce the size and the weight of a deflector for a color picture tube and enable the convergence shift to be excellently corrected, by changing the whole situation of the distributions of horizontal-deflection magnetic fields with the passing of time, by changing currents flowing through pairs of horizontal deflecting coils differentially in vertical deflection periods, by changing the circuit impedances of the said horizontal deflecting coils by utilizing magnetic fluxes discharged from the magnetic cores of a deflection york. CONSTITUTION:A deflector for a color picture tube is constituted of pairs of saddle-shaped horizontal deflecting coils (LH1) and (LH2), and a pair of toroidal vertical deflecting coils Lv. In the above deflector, coils 1011, 1012, 1021 and 1022, which are connected in series with the horizontal deflecting coils LH1 and LH2 and are supplied with magnetic biases, are installed at such positions that magnetic fluxes (phiv), which are discharged outside the magnetic cores 4 and 4' of a deflection york and alter in vertical deflection periods, act upon the coils 1011, 1012, 1021 and 1022. In addition, the circuit impedances of the coils (LH1) and (LH2) are changed differentially in vertical deflection periods, and the whole situation of the distributions of the horizontal deflection magnetic fields is changed with the passing of time so as to correct the shift of the convergence. |
