Stripping out of toxic gases from effluents by the use of a hot air prodn. unit which blows the heated air into a water film and thereby drives out the gaseous ballast matls. from the effluent so that the 5-day BOD value as well as the potassium permanganate value is reduced. The treated water is sepd. from the hot air stream via spray catchers and can be recycled to the process or is delivered to drain without endangering its biological condition. Enables effluent partic. from the chemical industry contg. e.g. H2S, NH3, HCHO, C6H6 etc. to be safely treated.
