PURPOSE:To obtain a toner having uniform particle diameter, and superior dispersion stability and durability, etc., by heat treating a metal or its compound at 400-2,000 deg.C, and coating it with a resin when needed to form a colorant for a toner. CONSTITUTION:Titanium oxide, barium sulfate, and nickel oxide are heat treated at 600 deg.C for about 4hrs in an electric oven, then water is added, and further treated at 600 deg.C for 3hrs. The yellow metallic pigment thus obtained is dispersed together with a rosin-modified phenol and carbon tetrachloride in an attriter for 3hrs to give a wet type toner of 1.5mum average particle diameter. As the metallic compound, hydroxide, such as iron hydroxide, oxide, such as chromium trioxide, chloride, etc. are used. The pigment particles are coated with a resin by the flashing method. As the resin to be coated, a rosinmodified resin, a petroleum resin, an acrylic resin, styrene resin, etc. are used. |
