A method for the preparation of a chiral epoxy alcohol which comprises reacting a primary allylic or homoallylic alcohol under anhydrous conditions with at least a stoichiometric amount of hydrogen peroxide or an alkyl or aryl hydroperoxide in the presence of a Ti<iv> complex and a chiral amino alcohol having at least one centre of chirality.
