1518639 Polyamide-rubber blends MONSANTO CO 2 March 1977 [3 March 1976] 8699/77 Headings C3R and C3M Blends which are elastomeric but processable as a thermoplast can be formulated from (a) a thermoplastic polyamide constituting up to 50 wt. per cent of the composition, (b) a rubber cross-linked to a gel content of at least 80% determined according to U.S. Patent 3,203,937, which is a 1,3-butadiene homopolymer or copolymer with styrene, vinyl pyridine, acrylonitrile and/or metallacrylonitrile, and optionally (c) a plasticizer for (a) in an amount not exceeding that of (a) with (b) + (c) constituting not more than 80 wt. per cent of the composition can be formulated by prescribed procedures which ensure that the cross-linked rubber is preset as very finely dispersed particles in the polyamide matrix; if cross-linking is effected after blending the blend must be masticated without interruption during cross-linking. |
