PURPOSE:To facilitate sticking of an optical fiber cable to a plug by stripping only the sheath of said cable. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber cable 12 having optical fiber strands 14 at the center is stripped of only the sheath 15 for a prescribed length, by which only the tension members 13 are exposed. The worker unravels the members 13 by touching the end parts thereof, and forces the end parts into the hole 16 of a plug 1 after coating an adhesive lightly on the surfaces, then the members 13 are folded back at the inlet of the hole 16 and fit snugly to the sheath 15. In this state, the adhesive is thoroughly coated on the folded-back members 13 and the exposed strands 14 and these are inserted and stuck in the plug 11 down to the position where the leading ends of the strands 14 project slightly to the outside from the leading end of the hole 17. After the sticking, the projecting ends of the strands 14 are cut and are polished. |
