PURPOSE:To have sure control over opening and closing of a divergent line in an opening and closing valve to control opening and closing of the divergent line by connecting the working oil pressure chamber of a piston with either oil pressure source or the oil return passage selectively through a selector valve. CONSTITUTION:A divergent line 14 in communication with the ending part of swirl from the intake passage is formed in the cylinder head, and a slide valve 18 equipped with a valve element 20 to control opening and closing of this divergent line 14 is furnished in the divergent line. The working oil pressure chamber 30 of the piston 22 is connected with a lubricant oil supply pump through lubricant oil passages 32-34. A solenoid-operated selector valve 36 is connected with the output terminal of an electronic control unit 36. A lubricant oil return passage 40 diverges at the convergence 35 to be connected to a sump for lubricant oil. The reliability can be enhanced, because the opening/closing control of a divergent line can be thus performed with simple mechanism using a lubricant oil pressure. |
