PURPOSE:To prevent a fault on some part from affecting to other parts, by providing an optical communication device, to which a master station and subordinate stations are in cascade connection, with preparatory circuits for up and down communication in addition to an exclusive circuit for up and a down communiction. CONSTITUTION:Subordinate stations 100, 200, 300, and 400 are connected to a master station on the left-hand side and a subordinate station on the right-hand side, and each suborinate station has the same constitution. A light signal sent to the subordinate station 100 through an optical fiber 101 is branched into two by an optical branching and coupling device 104; one part is passed through an optical receiver 106 and a signal reception part 107 to generate an electric signal, which is inputted, together with a necessary transmitted signal, from a signal transmission part 108 to an optical transmitter 109, so that they are transmitted optically to the trailing subordinate station 200 through an optical fiber 201. The other branched light signal is sent to the subordinate station 200 through an optical fiber 202. Transmission in the opposite direction is performed similarly through optical fibers 203 and 202. |
