PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an electromagnetic brake and to facilitate the disassembling and assembling thereof, by using a helical body of a configuration memory alloy in the electromagnetic brake apparatus. CONSTITUTION:When an electric current is not passed to a stator 1B, since the helical body 10 forces a moving body 7 to become in contact with a brake lining 2A and it to become in contact with a brake surface 3a, a rotating shaft 1D is braked. On the other hand when an electric current is passed to the stator 1B, the helical body 10 is also energized to heat so that it shrinks. Therefore, the forced engagement between the moving body 7 and the brake lining 2A and the brake lining 2A and the brake surface 3a is released, so that the braking is released. |
