<p>A method of refining crude animal and vegetable oils and fats comprising treating said oils and fats with an alkaline solution, directly treating the resulting mixture with an acid solution, separating the insoluble matter from the mixture, and, if required, treating the mixture by conventional adsorption and steam distillation methods. An alternative method includes a direct treatment of the mixture resulting from the second step by an adsorption method, and, if required, the resulting mixture is subjected to steam distillation. The yield of treated oil is improved over standard methods and the flavour is also better.</p> |
