PURPOSE:To provide the titled material free from need for a support, capable of producing a high-density image with favorable resolution and with a lower recording energy, by a method wherein colorants having different hues are incorporated in a recording material and the melting or softening points of the colorants are set in a specified relationship. CONSTITUTION:The recording material has a double-layer construction consisting of a layer 11 which contains a colorant A and has a thickness of 5-30mum, and a layer 12 which contains a colorant B and has a thickness of 0.5-5mum. The melting or softening point of the layer 11 is set to be higher than that of the layer 12. A recording needle 3 and a return circuit electrode 4 are brought into contact with the layer 11, and the surface resistivity of the layer 11 is set to be not higher than 10<8>OMEGA, preferably in the range of 10<3>-10<4>OMEGA. The layer 12 is solely melted or softened, and the ink containing the colorant B is heat-transferred onto a recording body 2. |
