PURPOSE:To provide the titled original plate prevented from generating pin holes and cracking, by a method wherein a water-resistant layer consisting of two special layers is provided on a paper base, a hydrophilic layer consisting of a hardened water-soluble resin is provided thereon, and if necessary, a photosensitive resin layer or the like is provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:A material prepared by dispersing a pigment (e.g., titanium dioxide) having an average particle diameter of 0.5-10mum into a hydrophobic resin solution in a ratio of 1/1-8/1 is coated on the paper base 1 and is dried to form the first water-resistant layer 201. A hydrophobic resin solution prepared by adding a pigment or without adding any pigment thereto is coated on the first water-resistant layer 201 and is dried to form the second water-resistant layer 202 which has a film thickness higher than that of the layer 201 and is thinner than the layer 201. Further, the hydrophilic layer 3 is provided on the layer 202 by hardening a water-soluble resin (e.g., PVA). If required, a curl-preventing layer 4 may be provided on the back side of the paper base 1 and a photosensitive resin layer or the like 5 may be provided on the hydrophilic layer 3. |
