PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head with flat head surface by a method in which a head intermediate obtained by glass-sealing paired lead electrode plates with conductive plate having large numbers of slit-like long notches is cut and resistors and protective films are orderly formed on the cut face. CONSTITUTION:A spacer glass 11 is interposed between paired lead electrode plates 10 with a conductive plate 10a having large numbers of long notches 10b, and holding glass plates 12 are laminated on both sides of the paired lead electrode plates 10. The laminate is heated and glass-sealed through the long notches to form a head intermediate 13. Then, the head intermediate is cut at cut lines A-A and B-B crossing to the long notches in the laminated direction of the glass plate and the electrode terminal 10d of a heating element is formed on one side of the cut face, and a resistor 14 and a protective film 15 are orderly formed on the cut face. |
