NEW MATERIAL:A substituted phenyl carbamate of formulaI(X is O, S or vinylene; l and m are integers 1-4; n is 0 or 1; the number of members in the heterocyclic ring formed by N atom, two alkylene chains and X is 5-7; two alkylene chains may be branched; Y is halogen; p is 1 or 2; R<1> is H or lower alkyl; R<2> and R<3> are H, lower alkyl or phenyl). EXAMPLE:4-Chloro-3-[(2,2-dichlorocyclopropyl)methoxy]phenyl 1-pyrrolidinecarboxylate. USE:A herbicide, having improved controlling effects particularly on annual broad- leaved weeds and annual weeds of the families Gramineae and Cyperaceae, and nontoxic to useful crops, e.g. paddy rices. PROCESS:A compound of formula II is reacted with phosgene in the presence of a base, to give a compound of formula III, which is then reacted with a compound of formula IV in the presence of a base to afford the compound of formulaI. |
