PURPOSE:To reduce slag inclusion in the initial period of casting and to prevent the clogging in the sliding nozzle of the tundish by setting the molten steel level in the tundish at a low value in the initial period of casting when continuous casting is started and at a high level when the casting stabilizes. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is charged from a ladle 1 through a sliding nozzle 2 into a tundish 3, and further the molten steel is charged through a tundish nozzle 4 into a mold 5. In the stage of starting the changing of the molten steel into the mold 5, the charging of the molten steel from the ladle 1 into the tundish 3 is controlled at a constant level lower than the set value of the molten metal level in the tundish in the continuous steady casting stage. At the point of the time when the casting goes steady, the charging ot the molten metal from the ladle 1 into the tundish 3 is subjected to constant level controlling, with the set value of the molten metal level in the tundish as a target value. As a result, the clogging in the nozzle 4 is prevented, the amt. of the molten steel in the tundish in the initial period of casting is reduced, and the treatment in the event of casting abnormality in the initial stage is facilitated. |
