PURPOSE:To obtain molding sand of desirable characteristics from old sand by adding the water that has evaporated away during the previous charging and the water of the volume forecast to evaporate until the sand is molded after mulling other than a binder to the mold sand obtd. by knocking out of molds and mulling the sand. CONSTITUTION:The mold sand which is removed of foreign matter, etc. and is carried from a recovery conveyor 1 is supplied from a sand storage 2 into a constant volume auxiliary hopper 11 by a dispensing conveyor 3. The moisture and temp. of the old sand are measured continuously with a moisture measuring device 5 and a temp. measuring device 6. The atmospheric temp. near a sand mill 13 is measured with a temp. measuring device 16. In accordance with the results of such measurement, controllers 9, 10 calculate the volume of water required for provision of desirable characteristics to the mold sand and the volume of water forecast to evaporate since mulling until molding and the water of the total volume thereof is kept stored in a sealed water storage tank 23. Sand is charged from an hopper 11 into the mill 13 and the water from the tank 23 at one time, and both are mulled under addition of a binder. |
