A cam disc for a step-down mechanical counting mechanism is described in which a one's wheel and a cam disc are mounted on a locking shaft and are moved by an operating shaft rotating to and fro and arranged in the interior of the locking shaft. On the operating shaft, a drive latch acting on the cam disc and a switching latch acting between the cam disc and the one's wheel are pivoted. The cam disc consists of a driving and a driven part and these two parts can be adjusted and locked with respect to one another in selectable angular positions. The driving part engages the drive latch whilst the driven part loads the switching latch. Due to the mutually adjustable parts of the cam disc, it is possible to switch from one switching mode to another in a simple manner without having to exchange a complete printing mechanism.
