The cutting machine has a toolholder disc which rotates at high speed and which has a rough-machining tool and at least one finishing tool on at least one disc surface, the toolholder disc being adjusted parallel to the axis of the cylindrical workpiece to be machined, while the workpiece is slowly rotated. The rough-machining tool is arranged at a greater radial distance from the rotary centre of the toolholder disc than the finishing tool, and the latter projects with its cutting edge above the disc surface itself at a greater distance than is the case with the first-mentioned tool. <IMAGE>
