In a process for producing heat-insulated conduit pipes, first a strip is formed into a pipe, a self-foaming plastic is filled into the still-open pipe, after the foam has cured, the foam strand is divided into two partial strands which are semi-circular in cross-section, a groove which is semi-circular in cross-section is machined into each partial strand and the partial strands are placed on the continuously fed metal pipe. An outer jacket is finally applied.
