PURPOSE:When the stirring blade is fixed to the stirrer shaft for glass smelting around the outer periphery, flanges are formed on the inner edge of the blade and the blade is welded to the stirrer at the flange part to increase the weld strength at the welded part with a less amount of welding metal. CONSTITUTION:When a stirrer for glass smelting 1' is made from a noble metal such as platinum-rhodium alloy, the spiral blade of Pt-Rh alloy is bent along the inner edge at the right angle to form flange 4 and fitted to the cylindrical pipe shaft 2 of Pt-Rh alloy, the build-up welding is done between the flange 4 and the outer surface of the shaft 2. High welding strength is obtained with a less amount of Pt-Rh alloy for welding and the heat capacity increases, because of the flange, to prevent the shaft 4 from being bored by over smelting or reduction in welding strength by its thinning. |
