The automatic centre buffer coupling for a conveyor has the lever assembly formed by a swivelling toggle lever (3) with the stop arm (3a) engaging an attachment ahead of the coupling head (1) end face (1a). A setting arm (5) swings into a release position to switch the preceding coupling into a position for coupling readiness. On the other side of the head a setting lever (10) connected (7) with the toggle lever, is similarly swung for the following coupling. A spring connected to toggle lever and coupling head, holds this lever on both sides of a neutral setting either in the stop position or in the release position for the stop arm. One sector stop allows both conveyor couplings to be switched, and prevents unintentional switching. PS.
